Last of the Summer Reads

Hello!
Hi!
It's me again! Yes, it is Lucy, and yes, I've not posted for an ages. Sorry about that.

So, it's September again, and summer has faded away. I can literally hear the Hogwarts Express.

So, here's a list of books I've read over the last three months and would recommend!

In June, I was finishing up reading the Carnegie shortlist.

I read Ghost Hawk by Susan Cooper, and I thought for all intents and purposes it should've won the medal.
It's about a young Native American boy named Little Hawk and his journey to become a man. As time passes, his story becomes intertwined with an English boy named John. This book is full of interesting, well written characters. They're not particularly admirable at times, but they feel very real.

I'd better just say this now. I'm obsessed with anything that Elizabeth Wein writes. I'm serious. Her heroine's struggle in Rose Under Fire felt so real to me. I felt as if Rose was a friend, and her struggles really affected me. I would definitely pick this up if you like historical fiction. Even if history isn't your cup of tea, I'd recommend it anyway.

And now here's some books I read in July. Another book I'd recommend is Girl Reading by Katie Ward. An amazing debut by a talented author. If you like the idea of Cloud Atlas Girl Reading's plot is pretty similar.

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff is possibly one of the best books I have read all year. Just thinking about it makes me want to squeal and cry at the same time. Heart breaking story about the out break of World War Three. No, I haven't seen the film yet. I would like to, even though I've heard some not so great things about it.

As previously mentioned on this blog, I read The Wild Girl by Kate Forsyth. As you may have realised, I simply adore historical fiction. But historical fiction with the Grimm brothers, and with a hint of magic? Gimme gimme.

I promise you this list isn't going to be ALL historical fiction. I recently read Golden Boy by Abigail Tarttelin. And wow. This book is a complete roller coaster ride. I don't want to spoil the plot or the premise. I just want everyone to read this beautiful book.
 (Just read it, OK?)

So, these were some of my favourite books I read this summer. What were yours?
